The regeneration of London King’s Cross is one of the most significant urban redevelopment projects in the UK, transforming a once largely industrial and underused area into a vibrant mixed-use district combining homes, offices, public space, culture, and retail.
At the heart of this transformation is the preservation and reinvention of the area’s industrial heritage, particularly the iconic King’s Cross Gasholders. These 19th-century structures once stored gas for London and were a defining feature of the skyline. Rather than being demolished, several of the cast-iron frames were carefully dismantled, restored, and relocated as part of the redevelopment resulting in 149 distinctive canal side apartments and penthouses, each with curved balconies and views across London.
Alfresco Floors supplied 20mm Astor porcelain pavers across the 149 private balconies and within the radial walkway area of the project.
