Porcelain Tiles VS Concrete Pavers for External Flooring

Alfresco Floors | Porcelain Tiles vs Concrete pavers for external flooring

Class-A rated materials improve the safety of tenants, owners and employees in high-rise buildings and meet the UK’s strict fire regulations. All of these materials must be non-combustible and prevent the spread of flames. While a variety of Class-A rated materials exist, each one has its own benefits and style. In this post, we will seek to explain the differences between porcelain tiles and concrete pavers to help you better understand which non-combustible external balcony (or other specified attachment) flooring is right for you.

Outdoor Porcelain Floors

Outdoor porcelain tiles offer a unique mix of beauty and durability. These easy to clean tiles are scratch, stain, and corrosion-resistant. Better still, these tiles are resistant to frost damage and will survive even the harshest UK winter.

Porcelain balcony tiles feel smooth to the touch and are very low maintenance. They will not need to be sealed. In the unlikely event a tile is cracked, replacing a single tile is an easy task if they are installed on our Class A-rated A-PED or Reif DuraLink sub-frame systems.. These tiles are incredibly eco-friendly and will last for years to come.

Our porcelain product line offers tiles in concretestone, and timber effects. Each style offers a range of colours, designs and size formats that can meet your exact style and taste, and can be matched to indoor porcelain to create a seamless effect from inside to out. Our porcelain tiles will never fade, so they will continue to look beautiful years after they are installed.

External Concrete Paving

Concrete pavers look and feel like real stone while boasting a more affordable price. Incredibly weather resistant, these pavers will last for decades to come. These pavers are able to withstand quite a bit of wear and tear. Should one or two need to be replaced, the task can be completed fairly quickly if they are installed on our Class A-rated A-PED or Reif DuraLink sub-frame systems.

Minimal maintenance is required and typically only includes resealing the pavers. External concrete paving can have a bit of a rough surface if they are not resealed.

Our concrete pavers come in a variety of colours and shapes. Simply start by selecting the carreau range or rockstone range. From there, you can customise your paver to create the pattern that matches your favourite design style. Whether you need small, medium, or large pavers, our product line boasts the selection you need to complete your external flooring.

Non-Combustible External Balcony Flooring Requirements

Porcelain balcony tiles and external concrete paving both meet the UK’s fire regulations for buildings over 18 metres in height. These non-combustible materials will help prevent the spread of flames in the unfortunate event of a fire. While Class-A rated materials such as porcelain tiles and concrete pavers do not need to be included in all buildings, they must be used on buildings exceeding 18 metres. Contact us today to learn more about our non-combustible balcony paving systems and why our Class-A rated products can provide you with exceptional benefits.
